My emotions and thoughts thus far is: "this experience is beyond my wildest dreams".
Today, Mathieu and I had the chance to visit Grandville Island before heading to the dress rehearsal for the Opening Ceremony. On Grandville Island, we had lunch at an awesome market. There was all kinds of foods, i.e. italian, bakery, fish, fresh fruits etc. It was delicious!!!
After lunch, we still had a bit of time to kill before heading to BC Place, so we decided to walk on the other side of the Olympic Village. We found ourselves much closer to the venue. We took pictures of multiple flags that were hanging from the balconies (i.e. Poland, Italy, Korea, China, Germany, Russia). We also met a few athletes from other countries. In particular, we met 3 speed skating athletes from Italy.
The Russians are doing a great job of promoting they're upcomming games. They have created a large Sochi world which will showcase what Sochi 2014 has to offer to the world.
As for the Dress Rehearsal of the Opening Ceremonies....all I can say is WOW!!! Unfortunately, the content of the ceremony is confidential but I can say that it gave me goose bumps. You are all in for an amazing show. VANOC has trully come through on this one. During the ceremony, there were 2 screens showing the ceremony live. The image that comes through broadcast is amazing and I think it looks even better than live. PLEASE TUNE IN!!! It's worth watching.
I think I must have said "As if we are here" or "I am a happy girl" about a hundred times to Mathieu in the past 24 hours. I still can't believe I am here!!!
Tomorrow, Mathieu and I have our first training at the Canada Olympic House. We will meet our co-workers and see the final product of the house. Following our training, I am working tomorrow night during the unveiling of the house! I really look forward to experiencing the energy in the Canada Olympic House.
Goodnight!
Opening ceremonies dress rehearsal?! WOW!!! You're a very lucky girl. I'm wearing my christmas present today lol.
